What Screened Topsoil is

Dark, fertile topsoil screened through ½" mesh — minimal stones, no clay clumps. Organic content supports immediate seed germination without amendment. Double-screened means what you get is clean and ready to spread.

Not a fit for Under concrete, pavers, or structural fill — soft organic material settles under load. Always cap topsoil over structural fill, never replace it.

How much screened topsoil do I need?

Work in cubic yards: length × width × depth in feet, divided by 27. Screened Topsoil runs about 1.30 tons per cubic yard, and our quad-axle trucks haul 35 tons a load. This table gives the coverage for a single cubic yard at common depths.

How much topsoil do I need for a new lawn?

Plan on 3–4 inches over the finished grade. At 3 inches, one cubic yard covers about 108 square feet — so a 2,000 sq ft yard needs roughly 19 cubic yards, or about 24 tons. Our load calculator will run your exact numbers.

Is your topsoil screened?

Yes — everything we sell as topsoil goes through a ½" screen twice. That pulls out roots, rocks, and clay balls. Unscreened dirt is a different product; if you just need volume under a structure, fill dirt is cheaper and compacts better.

Can I put topsoil under a patio or driveway?

No. Topsoil holds organic matter, which decomposes and settles under load. It belongs in the top few inches where things grow. Use crusher run or fill dirt for anything structural, then cap with topsoil if you are seeding alongside.
